Hit the road to visit the famed Top End National Parks; Kakadu, Nitmiluk and Litchfield. This Top End self-drive itinerary highlights the Indigenous rock art, magnificent scenery, picturesque waterfalls and gorges, and abundant wildlife and birdlife on offer. Travel on sealed roads to explore the heart of the Australian Outback.

Day One: Darwin to Jabiru, 253kms, 2.75hrs
Collect your hire car in Darwin and begin your adventure towards Kakadu National Park. You might like to take in a Mary River Wetlands Cruise or the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise en-route.

Overnight: Anbinik Kakadu Resort – Anbinik Suite

Day Two: Jabiru
Today explore Kakadu. Visit Bowali Visitor Centre before heading to Ubirr to discover ancient Aboriginal rock art and walk to the top of Ubirr for magnificent views.

Overnight: Anbinik Kakadu Resort – Anbinik Suite

Day Three: Jabiru to Cooinda, 57kms, 1hr 
Visit Nourlangie with its fascinating rock art before heading to Cooinda. Join the famous Yellow Water Billabong Cruise to observe salt water crocodiles and a large range of birdlife.

Overnight: Cooinda Lodge Kakadu – Standard Room

Day Four: Cooinda to Nitmiluk Gorge, 283kms, 3hrs
This morning, make your way to Katherine taking a short detour to the beautiful Edith Falls known for its picturesque waterfalls and great swimming.

Overnight: Nitmiluk Cabins – One Bedroom Cabin

Day Five: Nitmiluk Gorge
Today, take the Timeless Land 3 Gorge Cruise (4 hours) at Nitmiluk Gorge. Marvel at the sheer rock face walls as the scenery becomes more striking as you head further into the Gorge.

Overnight: Nitmiluk Cabins – One Bedroom Cabin

Day Six: Nitmiluk Gorge to Batchelor, 265kms, 2.75hrs
Travel north through to Pine Creek’s Railway District and Station Museum where you can ‘Walk Through Time’ to learn about the history of the railway’s vital link for the gold mining town. Make your way to Batchelor – the gateway to Litchfield National Park.

Overnight: Litchfield Outback Resort – Executive Room

Day Seven: Batchelor to Darwin, 99kms, 1.25hrs
Spend today exploring Litchfield National Park including Florence Falls, the Buley Rock Hole, Tolmer Falls and Wangi Falls. Take a dip in the large crystal-clear pools before heading back to Darwin to return your hire car.
